Song Profile: Siamese Triplets
Brian Mullins
A great tune by Brian. It's a slip-jig with the melody on the fiddle: the
mandolin and flute provide harmonies. These harmonies aren't always adhered
to
and unison is sometimes played when the sense of the music calls for it. The
rhythm can be kind of tricky; with the inclusion of the occasional bar of 12/8
instead of 9/8, and a melody that has a giddy disregard for pointing the player
to the 'one' of the bar, some of us have been known to get lost in the
labyrinth. Still, it's a lovely tune and a joy to play and any imponderables
should
be quite clear after reading the music.
